Vacation Day 4 – Driving and Shopping
Published by Carl under Camping, Yellowstone Vacation on 8/15/2010 11:06:00 PMToday we pulled up from Arco and headed to West Yellowstone for the next part of our vacation.
We slept in this morning before making breakfast and packing up the camper. We finally hit the road at about 11:30am. The drive east through Idaho was just as boring as the drive out had been, but thankfully it was a lot shorter. We stopped in Idaho Falls briefly to go to Walmart and pick up a few things we had forgotten or learned that we needed. We then headed north for a couple more hours to West Yellowstone, MT and Grizzly RV Park, four blocks from the entrance to Yellowstone National Park.
I do love Montana. Vehicle choices: pickup truck or Harley Davidson. Radio stations: classic rock or country. Restaurants: steak or barbeque. Permissive gun laws and speed limits. What’s not to like?
After setting up the camper, we decided to walk through West Yellowstone. There are a series of painted buffalo statues throughout the town that we decided to go see. Along the way we stopped in at a mexican restaurant for dinner as well as numerous shops (Stacie even managed to find a scrapbooking store…). We finally called it quits at about 9:30pm as it was getting dark and I was tired of carrying shopping bags around. We went back to the camper for Stacie to get in a few hours of studying while I made our plans for tomorrow.

Those beautiful painted buffalo remind us of the painted cows in the center square of Luxembourg in 2001 (the buffalo are much better)
